Tldr History

Baltimare is a sim on the virtual world platform, Second Life, that is a host for /mlp/ adjacent residents. Founded in 2022 by the user, rarapony and co-managed by rose quartz, the sim began as just a small house, accompanied by a few pillows and a campfire outside. Baltimare hosted a stand with the Open Pony model for horse enjoyers to use freely, which is now widely used by many in Second Life. Baltimare was popularized through the /opg/ thread on 4chan, bringing in anons from everywhere to join in. The sim regularly hosts different events for its residents and visitors such as karaoke, draw parties, etc.

The creation of Baltimare (may-June 2022) {rougthly}

Originally a sky box in the... well sky, it was just a small house, near a camp fire with a couple pillows for people to hangout on. It also contained a stand where you were given the open pony model and later on a couple stores on the side offering a few unique items but nothing to big of interest, at this time it was mostly lead by rarapony as well as rose quartz (who to be honest did most the work at the time).

The sim progressed through meetings witch were held by the two where they would speak on top of a soap box to discuses future events and how things can improve for the sim.

another notable thing to happen around this time was the creation of the baltimare bungle (created by horselover) as well as wsis (the worst store in second life created by ambliz). The bungle becoming a great archive for what was to be and what happened in the sim and wsis being a great source of events for the sim.

another small mention was nommys journals which helped grow the sim through the documentation of their exploration around different second life sims! The culture of exploring sims still happens to this day around baltimare!

The Transition to becoming a full sim (oct 2022)

This is the time period where most thing have been created and where you get the themed design you have now. in the first issue of the bungle you can see that quote (who at the time was a new artist and modeler), started working on the 1920's esc design of the sim, though it was decided that others can build their own designs on their plot! This is also replicated in the bungle as it is show to be 100 yrs back of the actual date so 2022 -> became 1922, wsis follows the pattern as it follows a Victorian esc design, how original!

This is also when the janny board was created(since their was an uptake in new users) as well as eventually serving to become the divide between certain older users leading to the creation of cloudsdale due to the annoyances of possible people destroying the 4chan culture that was abound.

notable things that happened were also the inclusion of Havok (which was an rts defence game), the weekly art drawing , gto hosted mostly by copper which is a grid driving event where you explore sims in the main land through driving a car and finally the now defunct wsis coin system which allowed for people to collect coins while afk in the sim to spend on free hats and loot boxes as well as serving as a tool for later events and minigames.

The creation of horse heights (feb 2023)

The announcement of the original creation of horse heights was around feb 2023:

"HORSE HEIGHTS parcels will become available this sunday, opening at 1 pm in second life(pacific time), which is 4 pm EST and 9 pm GMT. god willing If you responded to the survey or contacted a janny about renting here, you were placed on the list. this list will be given exclusive access to the sim, and then it will be first come first serve starting at the stated time. I recommend you go scope out the spots and take notes of which ones you would want the most. and buy a weapon with which to fight any pony who takes your favorite spot. if the survey missed you, you can still contact tea, or quote to get added to the list, or drop a notecard in the mailbox by the construction office. Tell your friends if they're interested too in case they miss this post. tldr: get on the list, get on the sim when it opens, grab a parcel"

This is nothing to special as it is a residential sim thought this does show the heights (pun intended) of how big baltimare and open pony as a whole have gotten.

Things at this point things have slowed down and a lot of people have went and gone, for the main part most things are done by neri and on occasion wolven though no sort of big decline has happened.
